Nottingham accountancy firm supports local universities by taking on four graduates

A clutch of graduates from universities in the East Midlands have joined accountancy firm Page Kirk.

The Nottingham-based company has welcomed four new members of staff with Bryn Luffman, Martin Cull and Joshua Ruthven joining the graduate scheme and Michael Mottershead taking on a year-long placement.

The firm says it feels it is important to support local universities by encouraging their students to stay and work in the area.

Mr Luffman, who graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in accounting and finance, worked for the company in an earlier placement.  He returns to join the accounts and audit department.

He said: "I am looking forward to studying towards ACA qualification whilst also contributing knowledge that I have gained at university and putting it into practice."

He said: "It feels great to start working for Page Kirk and throw myself into learning lots of new things that I can put into practice! I hope, first of all, to pass all my exams and following that start to enjoy my career as an accountant. I am excited to start studying towards the ACA qualification, as the bits of work I have assisted on so far have really interested me, and my studies will hopefully help me to understand more and enjoy all that I work on day to day.”

The third new joiner, Joshua Ruthven, has a degree in Mathematics and Economics from Loughborough University. He is now studying towards the joint ACA-CTA qualification.  He joins the firm's tax department.

He said: "I am looking forward to gaining first-hand experience working within tax and accounts. I chose the ACA/CTA qualification to be able to learn new key concepts and skills then at the same time being able to apply that knowledge in a professional environment."

Starting his year-long placement with the firm, Michael Mottershead joins from Nottingham Trent University.  “I am delighted to be starting my job at Page Kirk, with it being such a well-known business at Nottingham Trent," he said.

"I can’t wait to get started and hope I can contribute towards the company’s success, whilst learning all the important attributes needed for the future."
