Notre Dame cathedral fire: Newspapers react to devastating blaze in central Paris

Newspapers of the world are leading on the fire that caused extensive damage to the Notre Dame cathedral last night.

French newspaper Libération prints the headline "Notre Drame", meaning 'our drama' in English.

French Roman catholic newspaper La Croix calls the fire "Le coeur en cendres", meaning 'our heart in ashes'.

Other papers call the event a "catastrophe" (Le Bien Public), "devastating" (L'Ardennais) and "the tragedy of Paris" (Les Echos)

In Britain, papers focus of the "tragedy" (I), the "centuries of histories lost" (Daily Mail) and "the battle to save Notre Dame" (The Times).
