Notorious bushes where Finglas attackers allegedly wait for victims to be trimmed back

North Dublin residents are relieved to hear that an area that was crowded with bushes and shrubbery and notorious for alleged attacks is set to be trimmed back.

A spate of alleged attacks have been reported at the bridge on the N2 road in Finglas near Lidl in recent weeks.

A woman reported that she was attacked by someone who jumped out of the bushes while she was on the bridge.

The person allegedly tried to take her bag before pushing her onto the ground and fleeing the scene.

Another woman claimed that the exact same thing happened to them at the bottom of the bridge just an hour earlier.

A third woman added that the attacks haven't just been happening recently, stating that they too had been targeted there years ago, something which she is "still not over".

Locals lived in fear crossing the bridge with one person saying that they "would rather run through a roundabout", than pass it.

But Finglas Councillor Keith Connolly announced that the bushes in that particular area will be significantly cut back to help with visibility for people walking through that patch.

In a post on Facebook, Councillor Connolly said: "I have received the below reply from the Parks department this evening in relation to the recent attack at the Bridge on the N2 (Lidl).

"Parks Department have inspected the area this morning, a considerable amount of shrubbery was cut out of area to the left of the ramp last week.

"To ensure a clear sight line up the ramp we have organised to trim back hedging next week along with final litter clearance underneath the ramp."
