Police have launched an appeal after two women reported being raped or sexually assaulted within hours of each other in a west London underpass.

Officers were called to Northolt’s Church Road on Wednesday, August 10, to reports of a woman being the victim of a sexual assault.

The alleged assault took place in the nearby underpass at the White Hart roundabout shortly after 5am.

Later that same day, police were approached by a second woman who said she had been raped in the same underpass at or shortly after midnight on the same day.

Scotland Yard said it was treating the incidents as linked as it launched an urgent appeal to identify a man captured on CCTV.

Detective Constable Stephen Gayfer said: “We are doing all we can to support these women and to investigate these allegations.

“Our enquiries have led us to identify a man seen on CCTV who we urgently want to identify and speak to.

“I urge anyone who recognises this man, or who was in the area at the time of these incidents and saw anything suspicious, to come forward.”
