Northern Ireland vaccine: Percentage of people vaccinated by age group

Health Minister Robin Swann has urged everyone who is eligible to get their Covid-19 jab to do so as "the more people we can get vaccinated, the sooner we can return to normal".

He was speaking after a visit to the Belfast Vaccination Centre on Wednesday and praised those responsible for the "fantastic operation" in rolling out Northern Ireland's programme.

So how many people in Northern Ireland are vaccinated so far and what percentage of each age group?

Looking at the NI Covid-19 Vaccinations Dashboard, by 8.30am on Thursday morning a total of 1,415,408 jabs had been administered - 956,646 first doses and 458,762 second doses.

The programme is well above target, which by May 5 had been set at 762, 462.

According to the statistics on the dashboard, the percentage vaccinated by age group is as follows:

  • 80+: 100%
  • 70-79: 95.75%
  • 60-69: 97.77%
  • 50-59: 85.15%
  • 40-49: 71.25%
  • 30-39: 41.1%
  • 18-29: 18.3%

It also states that 65.75% of the adult population in Northern Ireland has received their first dose of the vaccine.

The dashboard also shows that GP have so far administered the most vaccinations with most people receiving the AstraZeneca jab.
