North Shields Juniors AFC receive a surprise visit from Allan Saint-Maximin, as Newcastle United star joins training

An under 8's football tournament was visited by an unexpected guest, when a Newcastle United star arrived at North Shields AFC last night.

Winger Allan Saint-Maximin was the special attraction at the event, which was organised by Puma. He took photos with fans in the clubhouse, and even joined in with a training session that the children were thrilled at.

North Shields AFC have other links to the current Newcastle United squad, with midfielder Sean Longstaff, and his brother Matty Longstaff, having played for the club when they were younger.

Newcastle East End football cub also took part in the event.

Allan Saint-Maximin, who is sponsored by Puma and often does community based events such as this, seemed in high spirits, as he was showing off his skills to the kids that were present.

Allan's club are preparing for a cup final in the coming weeks, as they take on Manchester United at Wembley to decide who takes home the Carabao Cup, and manager Eddie Howe would have been relieved to see that Saint-Maximin didn't receive any bad tackles from the children.

Club Chairman John Farrage has spoken at his delight at the Newcastle United player's appearance at the club, as well as what he was like in person.

"He was amazing with the lads, getting photos and getting involved in the games with them. They were all so happy to meet a footballer that they looked up to and it was great to see.

"He is clearly so down to earth, as he came into our clubhouse afterwards and stopped for a few photos with people before going on his way. He didn't drink of course!

"We have links to Newcastle anyway through the Longstaff brothers, who also visit us when they can. It's great to be supported by players who are having so much success now."
