The North East will experience more unsettled weather over the coming days, with sunshine and snow forecast within the same day before temperatures jump later in the week.
According to the latest forecast from the Met Office, Wednesday will begin with a widespread 'severe' frost and icy stretches after a very cold night with temperatures as low as -5°C. But there will be spells of sunshine in the morning, before cloud moves over throughout the day and a band of rain, sleet and slow arrives in the evening.
Things are looking milder on Thursday, though the region is still set to be wet and windy before brighter conditions to end the week on Friday.
