Warm weather and sun will continue into Tuesday though the skies will not be quite so clear as Monday's.
The Met Office predicts that Tuesday, August 9 will be a largely sunny day with some cloud cover across the North East, with temperatures reaching 24°C by the afternoon. It will be a dry day too, with chance of precipitation remaining less than 5% for the entire day.
The rest of the week is also looking good, with more sun and a clear night expected on Wednesday. The official forecasters at the Met Office said: "Any fog quickly clearing to leave a dry and largely sunny day, although this becoming hazy at times due to thin layers of high cloud. Feeling warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 25 °C."
