People across the North East may need to dig out their raincoat for Boxing Day.
According to the Met Office, the day will start off bright with sunny intervals. However during the afternoon there is expected to be heavy wintery showers.
They said: "The showers will become more widespread later before clearing, with the wind accentuating the cold feel." The temperature is predicted to reach a high of 5 °C.
Forecasters predict that Tuesday will be cloudy with bouts of rain. They said the temperature between Tuesday and Thursday will be near normal or mild overall.
