North Ayrshire eateries bag gongs in national award categories

A trio of North Ayrshire eateries have scooped special gongs this week.

Zain's Curry House (Dalry), Viking Café (Kilwinning) and New Royal Blossom Cantonese & Thai Cuisine (Irvine) bagged awards in the Scottish Asian Food Awards.

Zain's won the 5 Star Indian Takeaway of the Year South West category.

Viking bagged the Takeaway & Home Delivery of the Year South West prize.

New Royal Blossom picked up Thai Restaurant of the Year.

The awards ceremony, held in Glasgow, is the first of its kind and exists to recognise and reward a variety of Asian restaurants, takeaways and eateries across Scotland.

It recognises those who work their hardest to service the Asian food industry which is growing and diversifying each year.

The event celebrated the achievements of businesses and individuals who connect communities through food and culture.

Categories included Korean Restaurant of the Year, Asian Street Food of the Year and 5 Star Indian Restaurant of the Year, reflecting Scotland’s love for all kinds of Asian cuisine.

The Scottish Asian Food Awards 2019 were organised by Oceanic Consulting – the UK’s leading ethnic awards company.

CEO Irfan Younis said: “I’d like to say a massive congratulations to all winners and finalists from the 2 nd Scottish Asian Food Awards 2019.

"This campaign designed to honour all varieties of Asian cuisine has done brilliantly across the UK and it started in Scotland last year.

We’re proud to honour and celebrate the individuals who open Scotland’s doors to Asia’s kitchen.”
