Noam Emeran makes Manchester United promise after scoring first senior goal vs Leeds

Noam Emeran says his goal in Wednesday's friendly with Leeds will be "the first of many" for Manchester United.

Emeran scored the opener in the 67th minute as United beat Leeds 2-0 at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo. The 20-year-old collected Isak Hansen-Aaroen's inch-perfect through-ball before firing past Dani van den Heuvel, following a mistake from Whites defender Pascal Struijk.

Fellow academy star Joe Hugill doubled the lead shortly after, beating the offside trap to fire home another clinical finish after being set up by Emeran.

"It's always a proud moment for me to wear the shirt and play for this club in a big stadium like this," Emeran told MUTV after the full-time whistle. "Of course I'm happy and proud that I scored a goal, for my family as well. I just have to keep going, the first of many.

"It was important for the team and for the coach as it was our first game of the year so we wanted to play good, respect the tactics and the rules of the coach.

"Yeah, of course, it was a good goal for him [Hugill]. I’m happy for him to score. We represent the academy so it's nice."

Emeran was one of several young stars to be involved in the opening friendly, with the majority of United's senior players still away on holiday. Ten Hag's second-half team included no first-team regulars, with 22-year-old Brandon Williams the only senior player.

How many minutes are handed to the academy youngsters this summer remains to be seen, but Emeran was happy to take the experience of playing in front of thousands of fans.

"It's very nice, we are here to take experience so it's nice to play in a full stadium, to play in front of fans," the forward added. "It's a good feeling to play in a stadium like this.

"I don't have a personal target, I just want to play as many minutes as I can."
