The trial of a New York Times researcher in Beijing ended yesterday without a verdict. Zhao Yan, who has already spent 22 months in jail, pleaded not guilty to charges of disclosing state secrets and fraud. None of Zhao's friends or journalists were allowed into court. His lawyer said that Zhao was permitted to speak freely. Judges have a month to deliberate on their decision. (Via NYT > Media and Advertising)
