'No middle ground' - Manchester United fans demand solution to Cristiano Ronaldo saga

Manchester United supporters are demanding a quick solution to the Cristiano Ronaldo saga amid the expectation he will not be available for the Premier League curtain raiser against Brighton.

Ronaldo, 37, did not board the plane to Thailand and Australia with his United teammates due to a pressing family matter and the club formally accepted that reason for his absence. However, speculation over his future at United remains at fever pitch and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has expressed a desire to leave.

United insist Ronaldo will not be sold and will seek clarification talks in the coming days. Brighton visit Old Trafford on Sunday, August 7 and the Portugal captain has yet to lace up his boots this summer - throwing his availability in the build-up to those early games into doubt.

During his absence, transfer rumours surrounding Ronaldo have been bubbling away. Chelsea and Bundesliga side Bayern Munich distanced themselves from his signature, while reports in France suggested Ronaldo was offered to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain.

It is claimed they turned down the opportunity to team the United striker up with his long-term rival, Lionel Messi. Ronaldo also rebuffed a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia amid developing suggestions the Real Madrid great could return to the Spanish capital with cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid.

As things stand, though, Ronaldo is a United player and Erik ten Hag must decide what to do with the Portuguese superstar if he does return to the club to feature in his squad for the upcoming Premier League campaign. Here are comments from United supporters about him;
