Almost 24 hours after launch, the Nintendo Switch 2 is starting to sell out in the UK. While a midnight stock drop never materialised, consoles began quietly landing at shops this morning, and now it’s a race against the clock to secure one.
Argos still has same-day click-and-collect available in a handful of shops across the UK, but there are not many consoles left. Other retailers like EE have gone live too, but Amazon, Currys and Smyths Toys have completely run dry. I’m also seeing consoles in stock at Very and ShopTo, but you’ll have to wait a little bit longer before you receive it.
Consoles are moving fast and availability is patchy, so if you’re still hoping to grab one today, don’t hang about. I’ll be updating this blog with every restock as it happens.

Nintendo Switch 2 specs

The Switch 2 might look familiar, but there’s a lot going on underneath. It’s powered by a new custom Nvidia chip, so games don’t just load faster, they look better and run more smoothly. You get 12GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the original Switch), and most of that goes straight into powering games, not just background stuff.
The screen is still LCD, not OLED, but it’s bigger at 7.9in and has 1080p resolution. It supports HDR and a 120Hz refresh rate. Colours pop more and motion looks buttery-smooth in handheld mode. There’s also DLSS upscaling built in, so older games look better. Sadly, while it supports variable refresh rates, it doesn’t work when docked – just in handheld mode.
Nintendo Switch 2 price

The Nintendo Switch 2 on its own costs £399.99, and the main bundle with Mario Kart World costs £429.99. Buying the bundle saves you £40 compared to picking up the game separately, so it’s the better value if you’re planning to grab it anyway.
No big discounts yet – it’s launch day, after all – but some retailers have larger, more expensive bundles. These include the new Switch 2 camera (£49, Amazon.co.uk), the Pro controller (£74.99, Very.co.uk) and the official carry case and screen protector (£20.99, Amazon.co.uk), as well as extra games and accessories.
Nintendo Switch 2 launch games
There’s a stacked line-up of Switch 2 games for day one. Mario Kart World is obviously the big one, but you’ve also got upgraded versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, plus mammoth games like Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition and Hogwarts Legacy – two games that really test the console’s muscle.
Other launch day games include Hades 2, Split Fiction, Sonic X Shadow Generations, Street Fighter 6, Survival Kids and Suikoden I & II HD Remaster. You’ve also got Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and Deltarune Chapters 1–4, plus more niche picks like Fantasy Life i and Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD. Civilization VII and No Man’s Sky are here too, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour acts as a mini showcase for the new hardware.
On top of that, loads of older Nintendo titles have been patched with free performance updates, and Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur II are now available through the new Switch Online GameCube library.

A Nintendo Switch 2 unboxing
22:15 , Alex LeeIf you’re yet to get your hands on the console but are interested in seeing what will be inside the box, gaming correspondent Jake Brigstock has delivered.
Jake has filmed a full unboxing for you, taking you through exactly what you can expect when yours arrives.
An update on Nintendo Switch 2 stock
21:51 , Alex LeeIt’s been some time since I last updated you. The situation remains fairly similar. It’s sold out at Very, but the console is available to buy at Argos, ShopTo and EE.
The one addition to this lineup is Asda. The supermarket was the only retailer to have midnight stock at launch, which was certainly a surprise. You can buy the standalone console right now. I can’t see Mario Kart World listed on the website, so you’ll have to buy this elsewhere. But, it’s in stock across the board – Amazon, Argos, Very... the list goes on.
Where can you buy a Nintendo Switch 2 right now?
18:35 , Alex LeeStock’s still selling out fast, but a handful of UK retailers are showing availability, including some with same-day collection or delivery next week.
Argos has consoles in stock now, with same-day click-and-collect available at select locations depending on your postcode.
EE is also listing stock, though it’s only open to pay-monthly customers, with delivery in one to three working days.
Over at ShopTo, the Switch 2 is available to buy, with delivery expected from Monday, 9 June.
Very has one bundle left, but the wait’s a little longer. Consoles purchased now are currently showing a delivery date of Friday, 13 June.
Game might be all out of stock
17:33 , Alex LeeIt doesn’t look like you can buy the Nintendo Switch 2 from Game anymore. The standalone console listing now redirects straight back to the main Switch 2 hub, and the Mario Kart World bundle link leads to a “not found” error page. It was live earlier this morning, so it looks like everything’s now been snapped up.
No idea if it’s a temporary glitch or if Game is fully out of stock. For now, it’s worth keeping an eye on the main listing page.
Game stock update: Standalone Switch 2 console still available
16:42 , Alex LeeGame is still offering the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console for both home delivery and collection, but it’s not the most straightforward option. There’s no clear dispatch or pickup estimate shown at checkout.
Standard delivery costs £4.99 and can take between 3 and 7 days, depending on location. Collection is also available, but annoyingly, it still costs £4.99, and according to Game’s help pages, collection can take up to 14 days to arrive in store. You might as well pay for the home delivery – it’ll be quicker.
If speed is your priority, Amazon and Argos are still your best bets.
Who has the Mario Kart World bundle in stock?
16:27 , Alex LeeRight now, only a few retailers still have the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle available – but each comes with a caveat.
EE has stock, but it’s only available to pay-monthly customers. You’ll need to add the bundle to your mobile plan, and delivery usually takes 1–3 days.
ShopTo has the standard Mario Kart World bundle available for £429.85 on back-order, but delivery won’t arrive until Monday, 9 June – so not ideal if you’re after it for the weekend.
Amazon Switch 2 stock update: Bundle sells out, console still available
16:14 , Alex LeeAmazon has also run out of the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle. But the standalone console is still in stock as of now.
If you’re a Prime member, you can get it delivered as soon as tomorrow, so it’s one of the fastest options left.
The standalone Switch 2 is still in stock at Argos
16:09 , Alex LeeYou’ll be hard pressed to find a Mario Kart World bundle at Argos right now. Stock is extremely patchy across the country, and in many areas, it’s already sold out.
That said, there’s still decent availability of the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console, with same-day click-and-collect still popping up — though you might have to wait until later this afternoon or even tomorrow morning to pick it up.
Very sells out (again) but has a new bundle
14:09 , Alex LeeTold you it was volatile. Very sold out yet again.
However, I’ve just caught another bundle that includes Mario Kart World and a microSD. It is, of course, more expensive than the standalone console or the usual Mario Kart World bundle, but it might be your only chance on Very.
Game has click-and-collect
13:50 , Alex LeeIt’s buried right at the end of the checkout process, but you might be able to pick up a Switch 2 from your local Game or Sports Direct today. It will vary by location, and you’ll need proof of identity:
- Cheque Guarantee/Credit/Debit Card
- Bank/Building Society Book
- Valid Passport
- Cheque Book
- Driving Licence
But as Argos runs out of same-day stock, this might be the next best option.
Stock sells out at major retailers
13:08 , Alex LeeStock is selling out fast. I haven’t seen this much movement since this morning. Currys, HMV, and Asda have all just followed Smyths Toys. None of these retailers has consoles.
Your best bet for a console today or tomorrow is Argos; your best chance for a console over the next week is Amazon.
Smyths Toys stock only available in person
12:29 , Alex LeeIf you want a console from Smyths Toys, you need to be fast. You can no longer order a console for delivery online, and only a few of its stores still have stock. Things are looking especially sparse in Scotland. As of a couple of minutes ago, here’s how the stock stands:

No Man's Sky gets free Switch 2 upgrade
11:04 , Jake BrigstockNo Man’s Sky has been given a free Switch 2 upgrade in time for the console’s launch. Hello Games confirmed the update called Beacon has Switch 2 support at launch.
There’s full multiplayer, 4k resolution, increased planetary detail, higher frame rates, gyro aiming, cross play and cross save support.
Mario Kart World
10:53 , Jake BrigstockIf you haven’t already checked it out, tech writer Steve Hogarty spent six hours playing Mario Kart World – and he certainly had some thoughts (19 in fact). Here’s what he made of it.

Smyths Toys stock dwindling further
10:47 , Jake BrigstockSmyths Toys continues to be a popular option for those looking to pick up stock today as more and more stores are completely out of units. As mentioned earlier, it would take too long to list everywhere that does and doesn't have any stock left so here’s an updated look at where there’s just one unit left in case you live close by:
- Barnsley
- Bradford
- Cardiff East
- Colchester
- Leeds Birstall
- Linwood Paisley
- Liverpool Croxteth
- Nottingham
- Sunderland
- Watford
JD Williams has stock
10:31 , Jake BrigstockJD Williams have stock of both the console and Mario Kart World bundles. They’re selling fast though so be quick if you want to get your hands on one!
HMV has dropped stock
10:10 , Jake BrigstockMorning everyone! Hopping on the live blog for a couple of hours or so.
HMV has just had stock of the Nintendo Switch come in. There’s also stock of the Mario Kart World bundle too. It says stock is limited on both so hurry, hurry, hurry!
Stock dwindling at Smyths Toys
09:42 , Alex LeeSmyths Toys was almost as good an option as Argos for click-and-collect stock, but many of its stores are running low.
It would take an age to list everywhere that does and doesn’t have stock. Instead, here are the places with only one console left, in case you live nearby and need to get a move on:
- Bradford
- Bristol Longwell Green
- Colchester
- Crayford
- Derby
- Dundee
- Kilmarnock
- Leicester
- Liverpool Croxteth
- Livingston
- Sheffield Meadowhall
- Swindon
- Telford
Argos stock tip
07:08 , Alex LeeThough Argos is offering same-day click-and-collect, not every shop is equal.
Though many Argos locations have stock right now – you can order it online now and grab a console before work – some won’t let you pick up the stock until the afternoon.
For example, here in London, you can collect a Switch 2 right now at Old Street Argos, but you’ll have to wait until 4pm at Shoreditch Sainsbury’s. The two locations are just 500m apart. You might have to travel a bit if you want a console right now.
Smyths Toys stock
06:28 , Alex LeeNo other retailers have dropped 6am stock, but it’s worth a reminder that you can also click-and-collect stock from Smyths Toys, though it looks like consoles are in the single digits.
They’ve run out in Edinburgh, Ipswich, and Nottingham, so you might need to be quick.
ShopTo has backorder stock
06:12 , Alex LeeShopTo also has a bundle with Mario Kart World on backorder. It’s not as exciting as the click-and-collect option from Argos, but it stops you heading out in the rain at 6am.
Argos has both the consoles and a bundle
06:05 , Alex LeeIt’s not just standalone bundles. If you’ve read the preview news of Mariachi Waluigi and you’re desperate to play Mario Kart World ASAP, you can get a Nintendo Switch 2 Console with the game.
Argos stock is live
06:01 , Alex LeeIt’s a good morning indeed.
Argos just dropped a bunch of stock:
Argos is about to go live with Nintendo Switch 2 stock
05:45 , Alex LeeIt may have been a disappointing night, but I’m here to brighten your morning.
We’re now just 15 minutes away from Argos going live with Nintendo Switch 2 stock. The retailer has confirmed consoles will be available from 6am, with same-day click and collect across the country.
Make sure you’re logged in, card ready, and your local store selected. Stock usually appears store-by-store, so if yours doesn’t show up straight away, keep refreshing.
News on Argos Nintendo Switch 2 drop
01:56 , Alex LeeArgos will have Nintendo Switch 2 consoles available in the morning for same-day click-and-collect. The retailer will release its launch day stock at 6am today (5 June), with consoles available for same-day click-and-collect.
Unlike Smyths Toys or Currys, there was no midnight launch party. You’ll need to set an early alarm instead. The good thing is that you’ll be able to pick a console up from your nearest Argos straight away and play Mario Kart before breakfast.
Smyths Toys Nintendo Switch stock drop!
01:51 , Alex LeeAs I predicted, Smyths Toys has delivered the goods!

The retailer has restocked the standalone console and a bundle with Mario Kart World. I’ve taken a look at delivery options and there is the option to receive it tomorrow, although you will have to pay £4.99 for the express delivery.
Asda's Nintendo Switch 2 stock is gone
01:41 , Alex LeeYes, that’s right, the one retailer that had stock of the console ready for the launch has now sold out. I’m keeping an eye out for other drops as they happen, but I stand by my previous point that your best bet for securing it might be at 6am. I’ll keep you posted though.
A look at the Currys midnight launch party
01:30 , Alex LeeWhile the online launch at midnight was rather anti-climatic (I’m still waiting for stock to drop somewhere other than Asda), Currys was clearly the place to be.

The retailer hosted a launch party at its flagship store on Oxford Street to anyone who had pre-ordered from that branch ahead of time. There were goody bags on offer, along with fancy dress competitions. When the Nintendo Switch 3 launches, I know where I’m going to be...
A disappointing launch night so far
01:00 , Alex LeeCor, what an anticlimactic launch night. Absolutely no one has dropped stock so far.
Smyths Toys shops are now closed, and the other retailers are keeping their powder dry.
Right now, your best bet is to set an alarm for 6am – that’s when Argos has confirmed it’ll go live with Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, with same-day click and collect available nationwide.
I’ll be here through the early hours in case anything changes.
What's the situation right now?
Thursday 5 June 2025 00:20 , Alex LeePeople have been queuing outside Currys on Oxford Street since 9pm.
Have you managed to get a console even without a pre-order? Still queuing or are you walking out with a Switch 2 tucked under your arm? Have you had luck at Smyths Toys? Let me know.
Currys down Oxford Street has a line of people waiting to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 😇
— Wanda White (@BlindWanda) June 4, 2025
Where are the consoles?
Thursday 5 June 2025 00:10 , Alex LeeIt’s just gone midnight and, well, no one has dropped any new stock online yet. Smyths Toys is shutting its doors at 12.30am, and it might list consoles after that.
Currys is still doing its thing in-store at its Oxford Street shop, and the usual suspects like Amazon, Argos and the My Nintendo Store are keeping us waiting.
I’ll keep refreshing through the night – stock could still land in the next few minutes.
Happy Nintendo Switch 2 release day!
Thursday 5 June 2025 00:00 , Alex LeeIt’s officially 5 June, and the Nintendo Switch 2 is out now. Whether you’re refreshing tabs at home or queuing up outside a shop, the launch is finally here, and it’s already shaping up to be a wild one.
Retailers are expected to start dropping stock online over the next few hours, with some waiting until the morning. I’ll be updating this blog through the night with every drop and bundle I can find. Good luck, and happy hunting.
A closer look at the unboxing
Wednesday 4 June 2025 17:14 , Alex LeeI’m juggling unboxing this console and keeping an eye on stock, but if you want a closer look, here’s the screen on the Nintendo Switch 2:
The screen is larger than the original Switch, with nearly two extra inches on its predecessor.
My Nintendo Switch 2 console just arrived
Wednesday 4 June 2025 16:42 , Alex LeeMany writers reported that they wouldn’t receive a Nintendo Switch 2 console before the launch, so you can imagine how shocked I was when the doorbell went and, well:
After months of covering the console, it feels surreal to have it in front of me.
If you want to order a console, it won’t arrive in time for launch day, but you can still get your hands on one:
