Nintendo Fans Shocked At Donkey Kong's Appearance in New Mario Kart Promo: 'What the Hell Happened'

Fans are expressing shock and confusion after Nintendo revealed Donkey Kong's new design in a trailer for the upcoming Mario Kart video game.

Nintendo recently revealed a new Mario Kart game alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, showcasing a brief gameplay trailer where fans noticed that Donkey Kong had undergone a drastic redesign.

Fans noted the character resembled his appearance in "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," released in 2023, according to ComicBook.

The trailer has sparked a divided response from fans, many of whom are critical of the new Donkey Kong look.

"What the hell happened to Donkey Kong between Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 9," X user @JordanOloman wrote.

"WHAT DID THEY DO TO DONKEY KONG," added X user @ghoulrunnings.

While the new Mario Kart game remains untitled and without a confirmed release date, the changes to Donkey Kong are drawing particular attention.

Nintendo is expected to provide more details about the Switch 2 and the game during an upcoming Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2, 2025.
