Nine-year-old 'beaten to death by family members for not doing homework'

Four people, all believed to be from the same family, have been arrested after a nine-year-old boy was beaten to death in France.

Police sources told French media that the boy had allegedly refused to do his homework and was beaten with a broom handle.

His sister, 20, brother, 19, and the brother’s pregnant wife have all been arrested.

They called emergency crews after they were unable to revive the nine-year-old.

The boy's mother, who was on her way to Paris at the time, has also been arrested.

According to local media, the mother had allegedly encouraged the boy’s punishment.

The four family members were arrested on November 21 and are due to appear before the local prosecutor ahead of an investigation.

The criminal investigation was opened today, according to The Mirror.

It is unknown if the four suspects have been charged.
