Nine more people have died in Greater Manchester hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

Nine more lives have been claimed by coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals.

The region's hospital death toll has now reached 2,410, the latest NHS figures show.

Three more patients died after testing positive for the virus at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust also recorded three more COVID-19 deaths while Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust recorded a further two.

One more life was lost at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Friday, October 16 is:

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 263

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 492

NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 603

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 204

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 241

Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 293

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 14

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 279

Nationally, a further 82 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 30,825.

Patients were aged between 35 and 97 years old, NHS England said.

All except eight (aged between 49 and 94) had known underlying health conditions.

Each the day the NHS gives an update on coronavirus related fatalities recorded by hospitals trusts in England during the previous 24 hour period.

These are cases where a patient has tested positive or Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

The figures do not include deaths in care homes or other settings.
