15 arrested in huge takedown of Central Coast meth ring

Police are in the process of laying hundreds of charges against 15 people as part of a crackdown on a large-scale methamphetamine ring on the Central Coast.

The arrests came after Tuggerah Lakes Police, assisted by Brisbane Waters officers, executed eight search warrants across Lakehaven, Wamberal, Gorokan and Terrigal on Friday.

The 15 people - eight men and seven women - were in the process of being charged on Friday afternoon and are expected to face the courts over the next few days.

Police will allege they seized drugs including methylamphetamine, GHB, cocaine, MDMA and cannabis with an estimated street value of nearly $250,000 as well as more than $210,000 cash.

Tuggerah Lakes Police District commander Superintendent John Gralton said the arrests and seizures came about after six months of hard work by police from the Tuggerah Lakes Proactive Crime Team, who established Strike Force Harle in February to investigate the distribution of illicit drugs, particularly ice, across the Central Coast.

"This send a strong message to criminal networks," Superintendent Gralton said.

"The drug ice ruins individuals, it ruins lives, it tears families apart and tears communities apart."

Superintendent Gralton said he expected to see a drop in property crime due to the dent the arrests would make in the local ice trade.

"There's always a nexus between stealing and paying for drugs," he said.

Inquiries are ongoing.
