Chelsea: Enzo Maresca hopes Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku leave this summer

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca hopes Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku both leave the club this summer.

Jackson missed the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace last weekend due to suspension, for a red card picked up on the final day of the previous campaign.

Despite available this weekend, Jackson will not be considered for selection due to ongoing opportunities to leave the club during the transfer market.

"He is available, but he is not going to be part of the squad,” Maresca told reporters.

“As we already said, we have two strikers. And also we know that something can happen before the transfer window closes."

He added: “If they are going to be here, they will be with us. If not, it means they found a solution. I think it's better if they find a solution because they are going to be more happy.”

Asked if any outgoing or incoming are close, Maresca insisted he was unaware.

He added: "No idea, to be honest. I prefer to be focused on training sessions and preparing for the game. Christo is with us, but it's the same situation as Nico.”

Standard Sport understands Chelsea wish to sign both Xavi Simon and Alejandro Garnacho this summer, pushing Nkunku and Jackson further to the exit door.
