Nicola Sturgeon sees funny side of Janey Godley's sweary spoof of virus warning speech

The First Minister is being placed under enormous pressure by the coronavirus crisis but she has managed to retain her sense of humour and managed to see the funny side as a comedian poked fun at her latest speech to the country.

Nicola Sturgeon has earlier warned Scots on Sunday that we must all do the right thing to battle the virus and that "life shouldn’t feel normal right now."

Janey Godley posted her own humorous take on Sturgeon's speech from St Andrews House in Edinburgh.

Godley dubbed over the footage saying things like "naebody’s goin' tae Torremolinos, we're aw jist talkn' on the Snapchat group" and "everybody's gonnae die if yees aw keep goin' aboot and meetin' each other and goin' hame with a virus oan ye, so av telt ye wance and am no gonnae tell ye again".

It even includes a warning that "if I see any o' yous oot there, I'm gonnae take a run and put a toe up the crack ae yer a***, so quit it!"

The clip quickly went viral with many celebrities retweeting and reposting and Sturgeon herself even got involved.

The First Minister was quick to note that the tone used was not befitting of someone in her office, but appreciated the good that humour can do in these challenging times.

She tweeted: "I would *never* use language like this, obvs - but we could all do with a smile just now. And if humour helps get the message across..."
