Nicola Sturgeon says Ayrshire pubs must remain closed for at least another week

The First Minister has said that central belt pubs must remain closed for at least another week.

Nicola Sturgeon delivered the updated restriction as part of her daily briefing this afternoon.

Now licensed premises in Greater Glasgow, Ayrshire and Arran, Lanarkshire, Forth Valley and Lothian health board areas will be unable to open until Monday, November 2 at the earliest.

The news comes as the First Minister revealed that 28 coronavirus deaths were recorded yesterday across Scotland.

A further 1,739 people received positive test results, although some of those are likely to be a backlog from the weekend.

In Ayrshire, 105 new cases have been detected overnight, the Scottish Government confirmed.
