The Strictly Come Dancing star told Hello!: "It’s super cool. I’m excited, happy, nervous and just wondering what to expect. It feels really good to finally have a baby on the way. All the ups and downs were worth it in the end."

Ella, who is carrying their baby after going through several rounds of IVF, explained the reason for their unique reveal. "Being part of the LGBTQ community, I am aware of the issues surrounding gender reveals, as they often reinforce gender stereotypes”.

She continued: "I thought this was a good opportunity to bring awareness to the difference between sex and gender and make it less stereotypical. We started off with the pink and blue, then got rid of it."

In a separate Instagram post, the couple shared a joint post and admitted that they were initially “hesitant about doing a reveal", but decided to share the sex of their baby in such a way to "bring awareness to the negatives of 'gender reveals”.

They told fans: "We were hesitant about doing a reveal but we decided it was a perfect opportunity to bring awareness to the negatives of 'gender reveals' and the gender stereotypes that they can reinforce.

"We're so excited to share this with you all and finally reveal the sex of our baby!"
