Nick Saban says Zach Smith was not offered job at Alabama

If you’ve been in tune with the latest around the Ohio State program, then you are well aware that the university unloaded a slew of texts and emails Friday as a part of a public records request surrounding the Zach Smith ordeal of last summer.

Why it took so long to fulfill the request is anyone’s guess, but it’s all out there now.  Do with that as you wish.

There’s a lot to sift through, but not a lot of newsworthy content really. However, one thing seems to have provided content warriors with something to focus on, and it’s the fact that Nick Saban reportedly offered a job to the Smith in 2018 before all the news sordid detail hit. Smith then reportedly turned the offer down.

Or so we thought.

Saban was asked about providing further details, and his take on it is a little different. When appearing in front of the media Saturday, he did confirm that Smith was interviewed for an open position in early 2018, but after some background checking and further interviews, the program decided to go down another path.

Of course there’s no proof that either side is right, but it’s another case of some of the media members jumping on a story before it’s all been vetted out.

Furthermore, why some are running with this as the main thing to take away from over 2,000 emails and texts dumped on everyone is stretching for something that’s not really there.

The good news? Real games in college football will happen this month.
