Nick Cave will stream a solo piano performance recorded in an empty Alexandra Palace later this month — and it will only be available to watch once.
The film, called Idiot Prayer, was shot in the north London venue’s West Hall back in June, and will stream online on Thursday July 23 at 8pm.
It was filmed by cinematographer Robbie Ryan — whose previous work features The Favourite, Marriage Story, American Honey — and edited by Nick Emerson (Lady Macbeth, Emma, Greta).
Cave performed a medley of songs from his extensive back catalogue, including a few rarities “that most fans will be hearing for the first time”.
The stream will be an one-time-only event — there will be no repeat broadcasts, and viewers will be unable to pause, fast forward or rewind the footage.

It comes as Nick Cave was forced to reschedule his tour with the Bad Seeds until 2021, amid the ongoing pandemic. They are now set to play at the O2 in London from April 15-16 next year.
