NI striker Dale Taylor sets "debut" target after signing new contract with Nottingham Forest

Northern Ireland teenager Dale Taylor is aiming high next season after signing a new three-year contract with newly-promoted Premier League club Nottingham Forest.

Taylor is highly-rated at the City Ground and after agreeing new terms the former Linfield youngster has set himself the target of muscling his way into Steve Cooper’s first team plans.

The 18-year-old, who made his Northern Ireland debut in November, told Forest’s official website : “It’s an unbelievable feeling to sign for another three years with this massive football club and I can’t wait to see what these next three years hold for me.

“This season, I will continue to work hard, try to break into the first team and hopefully get my debut.”

Taylor has yet to make his first-team debut for Forest, but the lively forward has starred for the U23s and helped the U18s reach last season’s FA Youth Cup final.

The Belfast native scored three goals en route to the May showpiece which Manchester United won 3-1 in front of a record-breaking 67,492 attendance at Old Trafford.

He also travelled with Cooper’s senior squad when they took on Fulham at Craven Cottage in April and was an unused substitute in a 5-1 win over Swansea a few days later.

Taylor, who is represented by local agent Stephen Whelan, joined Forest from Linfield in the summer of 2020 and signed his first professional contract in December of that year.

The Reds are currently preparing for life back in the Premier League for the first time in 23 years after securing promotion to the English top-flight via the play-offs.
