NI Coronavirus: 16 further Covid-19 related deaths recorded by DoH

The Department of Health has reported a further 16 coronavirus related deaths.

According to the latest update, 13 of the fatalities are said to have occurred within the current reporting period, and three outside of it.

The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 1,533, according to the DoH.

Thursday's dashboard update reports a further 973 positive cases of the virus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 92,782 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department say 7,769 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 850 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 58 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, ministers are set to meet today to discuss plans to get international travellers arriving in Northern Ireland to produce a negative Covid-19 test before flying.

Proposals from the Health Minister Robin Swann will be debated by the Executive today, the BBC reports.

It is understood the plans are similar to the move already in place in the Republic since Saturday which would see all international arrivals to Northern Ireland produce a negative Covid-19 test before departure.
