NHL fans roasted Columbus’ Boone Jenner for missing a rarely seen penalty shot

The Columbus Blue Jackets were awarded a penalty shot in the first period of Thursday’s Game 4 against the Bruins after Boone Jenner was tripped by Brad Marchand on a short-handed breakaway.

It’s a call you don’t often see in a NHL game, let alone in a playoff game, but it was the right call, as Marchand clearly tripped him from behind right in front of the goal.

Jenner then attempted the penalty shot and things did not go well for him as his attempt – which wasn’t great – was easily turned away by Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask.

Making things worse for Columbus, you don’t get a power play after a penalty shot. The Bruins were still on theirs and quickly scored right after to make it 2-0.
