(Reuters) - A low pressure area near the Cabo Verde Islands has a 70 percent chance of tropical storm formation over the next two days, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Tuesday.
"Environmental conditions are conducive for development, and a tropical depression is expected to form in 2 or 3 days over the eastern Atlantic," the Miami-based weather forecaster said.
Meanwhile, the chance of storm formation for a system located just offshore of the North Carolina coast over the next couple of days has fallen to 40 percent from 90 percent seen earlier, the NHC said.
