NFL tentatively decides upon when Patriots-Chiefs will play

The NFL announced it will move the New England Patriots’ matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs to Monday at 7:05 p.m.

The Patriots and Chiefs had been slated to play at 4:25 p.m. on Sunday, but each team had a player test positive for COVID-19 on Friday. The Patriots placed quarterback Cam Newton on the COVID-19 list, and the Chiefs put quarterback Jordan Ta’amu on that same list.

Because both teams have seen no positive tests for two consecutive days, the NFL has decided to resume play with a game on Monday. New England will likely travel to Kansas City on Monday, so long as both teams continue to have no additional players or staffers test positive for the novel coronavirus.

Without Newton for Week 4, the Patriots are likely to star Brian Hoyer.
