NFL star Ndamukong Suh drops $6.5 million on flashy Florida contemporary

Aug. 25--The NFL's highest paid non-quarterback has a new home to go with the contract.

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who in March signed a record-breaking six-year, $114-million free agent contract with the Miami Dolphins, has bought a house in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for $6.5 million.

Built in 2013, the contemporary-style house fronts the Intracoastal Waterway on about half an acre.

Space and volume is emphasized in the 11,142-square-foot home through free-flowing rooms, floor-to-ceiling glass and vaulted ceilings. Set above the public areas, glassed-in catwalks connect the upper levels of the home.

Among the features are a modern kitchen with two islands, a glass-enclosed wine room, a home theater and a gym. The master suite is outfitted with a sitting area, a large soaking tub and a wide terrace for a total of six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

Outdoors, the palm-topped grounds center on a swimming pool with a pool house, a waterfall feature and a raised spa. A rooftop patio tops the three-story home.

Suh paid cash for the home, according to Gossip Extra's Jose Lambiet. The seller was bank card entrepreneur Gary Palmer.

The house came on the market in April for $8,499,500 and closed sale in July.

Chad Gray of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Suh, the second overall pick in the 2010 draft, spent his five seasons with the Detroit Lions, making four Pro Bowls. His record-setting contract with the Dolphins will pay him an average salary of about $19 million and $59.955 million guaranteed.
