NFL star Myles Garrett to 'try and play' despite flipping car and ending up in hospital

Amazingly, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett will 'try and play' against the Atlanta Falcons despite suffering injuries in a car crash on Monday.

Garrett suffered a sprained shoulder, strained biceps and cut hand when he flipped his Porsche near the Browns training facility in Berea, Ohio. The NFL star was admitted to hospital but later discharged after an examination confirmed he had escaped 'major injuries' during the crash.

Initially it was feared that Garrett could miss game time due to the incident, and the defensive end is a key member of their squad. But Garrett is going to 'try and play' against the Falcons on Sunday, with the star on a mission to get the Browns challenging this season.

The Browns are currently 2-1 this season, although they should really be undefeated after they somehow threw away the lead against the New York Jets in week two. The Browns were 13 points ahead with just two minutes to play, but the Jets came back and stunned everyone with a grandstand finish.

The game would've gone to overtime if it wasn't for a missed PAT, but the defeat is a blemish on a brilliant record to start the season. Many are even backing the Browns for an AFC Championship run, and their chances will be significantly boosted if Garrett is fit to return straight away.

Their face a tough match against the LA Chargers following their meeting with the Falcons on Sunday, and everyone within the Browns know how key Garrett will be in any success. Garrett has 61 sacks in 71 regular season games since the start of 2017, and has become a favourite.

Browns Executive Vice President and General Manager Andrew Berry released a statement on Tuesday regarding Garrett. "First – and most importantly – we are thankful that Myles, his passenger and no other parties were seriously injured in the single-car accident yesterday," the statement read.

"After medical evaluation today, our team doctors at University Hospitals have concluded that Myles has sustained a shoulder sprain, biceps strain, minor lacerations as well as some bumps and bruises to various other body parts. Myles didn't suffer any fractures and has also cleared concussion protocol.

"Currently, our focus is on providing Myles the medical care needed for him to return to football activity. Although we hope to have him back soon, his availability for Sunday's game in Atlanta will be evaluated by team doctors throughout the week."

But the situation has evolved since then, with Garrett wanting to play on, and he will be closely monitored in practice in the build-up to Sunday. It would be a miraculous quick return, and prove the mentality within the Browns dressing room this season.
