With the big events of the offseason now over, the Indianapolis Colts set their sights on preparing for the upcoming season where they will be viewed as a team on the rise ready to make a deeper playoff run.
The outlook for the Colts is getting brighter as the offseason progresses. They are likely to be the favorites to win the AFC South when the season gets closer and some consider them to be among the elite teams in the league following the 2019 NFL Draft.
Publishing the power rankings following the draft, Nate Davis of USA TODAY had the Colts jumping two spots to No. 4.
4. Colts (6): Five years after Deflategate, they finally appear primed to pick up where they left off following that devastating loss at New England.
The Colts have everything moving in the right direction. They have a franchise quarterback thriving behind a stout offensive line. They have a head coach with a genius mind and a capacity to connect with players. They have a core of young starters on both sides of the ball, and they have a general manager that has a clear and concise plan to continue the improvements.
Of course, power rankings don’t truly matter. They have no bearing on how teams perform on the field, but it does show how the Colts are being viewed with respect to the other teams around the league.
Where the Colts will actually finish when the 2019 season is all said and done remains to be seen. There’s a long way to go on the path to the playoffs.
However, there might not be an outlook as bright as the Colts for the upcoming season if everything goes according to plan.
