In the NFL, we’re headed to Week 9 after very few moves before the trade deadline. There were no major upsets though San Francisco’s 51-13 win over a well-rested Carolina team was pretty stunning. This week, Minnesota visits Kansas City, the Colts are at Pittsburgh and undefeated New England visits Baltimore.
*Minnesota visits Arrowhead Stadium to face a Kansas City team most likely without Patrick Mahomes. Matt Moore played well in the Chiefs’ 31-24 loss last week against Green Bay. It’s tough luck for the Chiefs that they have to play two of the best teams in the NFC North in back-to-back games at home without Mahomes. Minnesota’s defense is great against the run so this is where Kansas City could really use Mahomes. The Chiefs also can’t stop the run, which means a big game for Dalvin Cook. Take the Vikings on the road.
*Indy struggled on offense last week against a tough Denver defense, but won, 15-13. They face another pretty good defense this week. The Steelers struggled early on Monday Night Football against the winless Dolphins, but came on late to win, 2714. This will be a much tougher game for Mason Rudolph, especially now that RB James Conner might be out for awhile with a shoulder injury. Go with the Colts on the road.
*On Sunday night, New England travels to Baltimore in what should be the Patriots toughest game to date. They took care of Cleveland last week, but Baltimore will be the first winning team they’ve faced since the beat Buffalo on Sept. 29, 16-10. The Ravens are coming off a bye and John Harbaugh is 12-1 at home on prime time games. Take the points and Lamar Jackson at home.
