NFL fans roasted Zach Wilson after the Jets finally traded for Aaron Rodgers

Monday ended up being a great day for nearly every player on the New York Jets after the team traded for Aaron Rodgers, but there was one notable exception:

Zach Wilson.

The third-year quarterback had struggled considerably in his first two seasons with the Jets since being taken second overall in 2021. And the move for Rodgers showed just how little confidence Robert Saleh’s staff has in Wilson’s ability to live up to his draft position. Last season, Wilson appeared in just nine games, throwing for six touchdowns and seven interceptions and he was ultimately benched (and booed by Jets fans).

Now, Wilson knew this trade for Rodgers was on the horizon. After all, the deal was rumored for nearly two months. But it still had to be hard to see the reaction from his Jets teammates — some of them changed their Twitter avatars to photos of Rodgers. They openly celebrated him losing his job.

NFL fans didn’t hold back on Wilson either with many of them seeing the trade as an opportunity to roast the struggling quarterback.

This was how Twitter reacted

It’s not going to get much easier for Wilson — that’s for sure.
