NFL fans and analysts roasted the Texans over reported Jadeveon Clowney trade

After weeks of speculation over the future of star DE Jadeveon Clowney, the Seattle Seahawks have reportedly agreed to a deal to acquire the former No. 1 overall pick in what appears to be a lopsided trade. It was reported Saturday afternoon that the Texans will receive a third-round pick, and a pair of players (Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo) in exchange for the three-time Pro Bowler.

Clowney had been heavily linked to the Philadelphia Eagles, but the Texans, who are operating without a general manager in 2019, sent Clowney to Seattle – yet didn’t receive any help on the offensive line, the team’s greatest area of need. NFL fans and analysts ripped the Texans for squandering Clowney’s value after the deal was reported.

Chiefs got a second-round pick for Dee Ford. Seahawks got first and second-round picks for Frank Clark.

There is simply no way to spin what the #Texans just did in trading Jadeveon Clowney as a positive. Their Hydra GM has made their team exponentially worse.

*fired their GM to pursue Patriots GM
*got hit with tampering charges for pursuing Patriots GM at Patriots’ ring ceremony
*never hired a GM
*traded Clowney for players who don’t play offensive line

The best part of this Clowney deal for the #Seahawks is if they don’t keep Jadeveon Clowney beyond this year, no big deal. They didn’t give up much to get him.
