NFL analyst believes NFC South is the league’s worst quarterback division

The New Orleans Saints have one distinct advantage over the rest of the NFC South, at least for the 2023 season: quarterback play. With the addition of Derek Carr, the Saints are the only team in the division with a proven veteran at the most important position on the field.

Adam Schein, of NFL.com, regards the NFC South as the worst quarterback division in the NFL. That’s taking into consideration that Schein thinks Derek Carr is a good quarterback. Here is his reasoning for the other quarterbacks in the division:

Now, I’m confident Young will live up to his draft pedigree as the No. 1 overall pick sooner than later. He’s a beautiful mind at a cerebral position, a resilient gamer with immense toughness that belies his slight frame.

Ridder’s more of a question mark as a third-round pick entering Year 2. That said, I do think the Falcons can break through in Arthur Smith’s third year on the job. He’ll support Ridder with a potent running game, especially now that Bijan Robinson‘s in the backfield.

What’s in store for Baker as a Buc? Who knows? This past season, he was bad in Carolina and solid in Los Angeles. He hasn’t been legitimately good in years, though there is legit receiver talent around him in Tampa.

It would be near impossible to argue that any other division would be worse than the NFC South. The AFC South is also not that proven of a spot, also having two rookie quarterbacks and a low-level starter in Ryan Tannehill, but having Trevor Lawrence in the division gives them a good bump for the NFC South.

The New Orleans Saints will have no excuse to perform poorly, considering the competition they’ll have for that guaranteed playoff spot for winning the division.
