Next Motherwell manager shortlist as Tommy Wright set for interview

Motherwell are set to finalise their managerial shortlist and will look to start the interview process this week.

Former St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright will be interviewed while current No.2 Keith Lasley will also get his chance to further his pitch.

Ex-Salford and Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander is also under consideration.

The Fir Park outfit have been impressed with the level of interest in their vacant position, after Stephen Robinson stepped down last week.

Former Livingston head coach Gary Holt, ex-Livi and Morton boss David Hopkin and Neil McCann, who had a spell at Dundee, are also believed to have had their names put forward.

Assistant boss Lasley wants the job but he wasn’t helped by Saturday’s 3-0 derby defeat against Hamilton.

He insists they do possess players with the heart and character to halt their slide down the Premiership.

But Lasley said: “We all have to take responsibility, the players have to take responsibility and we have to move forward quickly.

“There are people with real feeling for this club in there and I’m actually feeling for them. I know there are some boys in there with big hearts.”
