The most BIZARRE bookies options to replace Nicola Sturgeon

TIPS are flying in for who might be the next first minister of Scotland following the resignation of Nicola Sturgeon.

The bookies' favourite to take over is Angus Robertson with Kate Forbes close behind.

But there are some other absolutely WILD options out there, including blasts from the past you may have hoped you’d never hear from again. Let’s take a look.

David Coburn – 500/1

Coral and Ladbrokes are offering people the chance to have a dabble on the former UKIP MEP who was the leader of UKIP Scotland from July 2014 to December 2018.

That’s right, the man who once compared Health Secretary Humza Yousaf to convicted terrorist Abu Hamza.

We can only hope his real chances are much slimmer than 500/1.

George Galloway – 100/1

Well this would really throw the cat amongst the pigeons (sorry to put that image in your mind again).

The former Labour MP - whose All For Unity party fell apart ahead of the 2021 Holyrood election after he continued to present on Russia Today - is a worrying option being offered by Betfred alongside Coral and Ladbrokes.

Andy Murray – 500/1

Things we’d love to see! Andy Murray has won the hearts and minds of most Scots with his heroic displays on the tennis courts and deadpan sense of humour.

He certainly showed some interest in the vacancy within hours of the news emerging yesterday, so you never know.

But in all honesty this one is a long shot to say the least, and you’d be wanting more than £500 from £1 if it came off, surely?

Peter Murrell – 66/1

So you’re telling me Sturgeon stood up there yesterday saying she wanted to spend more time with her family and now her husband Murrell – who is CEO of the SNP - is being tipped to go for the exact job that has been taking up so much of her life?

I would not want to be privy to that conversation. Awkward.

He’s 66/1 at Coral but folk at William Hill have him at longer odds of 100/1.

Ruth Davidson – 27/2

She was seen by some to have kept Sturgeon on her toes for a time when she was leader of the Scottish Conservatives, but few seriously believed she had a real shot at being FM.

Now she’s not even an MSP anymore and is an unelected peer in the House of Lords – though we do sometimes forget this as she rarely shows up - I think it’s even less likely.

But if you fancy a go, William Hill has her at 66/1 or SBK have her at a ridiculous 27/2.
