Newsquest's Scottish profits fall

Newsquest's Scottish division reported a slight drop in operating profits in 2006 compared to the previous year. The publisher of The Herald, Sunday Herald and Glasgow Evening Times made £22.9m, down from £24.4m. From that profit, Newsquest paid a dividend of £15.6m to its US parent company, Gannett.
