Newmains man admits illegal possession of blade on Wishaw street

A man, aged 64, has admitted the illegal possession of a knife in Cleland.

Edward Wight, of Muirhouse Avenue, Newmains, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

He had the blade in Wishaw Low Road on March 22 while on bail for another matter.

Wight also admitted breaching bail by being in the company of a woman on that occasion.

The court heard that Wight was recently given a one-year supervision order in a separate case involving stalking.

He was also ordered to get drug counselling and electronically tagged for 160 days, meaning he can’t leave the house between 8pm and 6am each day.

Sentence on the knife and bail breach charges was deferred until December.
