Newly built home with two pools to list in Bel-Air for $34.9 million

Aug. 28--In Bel-Air, a newly built home overlooking Stone Canyon Reservoir will hit the market in the coming days for $34.9 million.

Set on a bluff of more than half an acre, the Italianate-inspired home measures 25,500 square feet with an elevator, eight bedrooms and 15 bathrooms. Two of the home's three floors take in sprawling views of the reservoir.

Interiors lined in Persian onyx, Italian travertine and French limestone include a two-story foyer, a chef's kitchen with a custom center island and a wood-paneled office. A two-sided fireplace divides the formal living and dining rooms.

Entered through double doors, a master wing has its own foyer, kitchenette, fireplace and sitting area. A stairway connects the suite to two outdoor terraces.

Elsewhere, a lower-level lounge features such amenities as a billiard room, a 1,060-square-foot wine room and a home theater. An indoor swimming pool, inspired by ancient Roman bathhouses, features mosaic tile and a brilliant stained glass skylight.

Outdoors, two water-view sitting areas with fire pits and fountain features flank either end of the property. Elsewhere is an infinity-edge swimming pool and spa, an outdoor kitchen, a 12-car main garage and a staff garage.

The property was once owned by the late Ursula Theiss Taylor, the German actress and second wife and widow of Hollywood leading man Robert Taylor. Following Taylor's passing in 1969, she moved her family from their Robert Byrd-designed ranch in Brentwood to the Bel-Air address, which she maintained for nearly four decades.

The current owner bought the house in 2010 for $1.7 million, according to public records.

Joyce Rey and Dan Glaser of Coldwell Banker Previews International have the listing.
