Newcastle vs Southampton team news: Eddie Howe sticks with trusted lineup for semi-final

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe named an unchanged line-up for the fifth game in the row as the Magpies bid for a place at the League Cup final.

With Wembley on the horizon, Howe resisted temptations to change the frontline with Callum Wilson keeping his place in attack.

Nick Pope was first name on the team sheet while Kieran Trippier captained the side and Sven Botman and Fabian Schar were the partnership in the centre of defence. Dan Burn again got the nod at left-back.

In midfield the trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff continued in the engine room. And Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Wilson were the frontmen. Karl Darlow was named as goalkeeper with his loan move to Hull scheduled for after the game.
