Newcastle United transfer rumours with Lazio star to turn down Italian deal amid Magpies link

A round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Tuesday, April 11.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic 'set to snub' fresh Lazio deal amid Newcastle interest

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly set to turn down a new deal at the Serie A side with Arsenal and Newcastle United keen on his services. The Serbian international has been repeatedly linked with a move to St. James' Park in recent months.

Lazio have proposed a new four-year deal, according to the report, but Milinkovic-Savic is set to turn that down. His current deal expires at the end of the 2023-24 campaign but his current side are desperate to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the proposed deal Lazio have put on the table includes a wage increase to £3.5 million (€4m) per season plus bonuses and includes a £52.5 million (€60m) release clause.

Newcastle linked with young Mexican striker

Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing rising Feyenoord star Santiago Giménez in the summer, according to La Razón in Mexico. The youngster only signed for the Dutch club from Cruz Azul last summer, but has impressed with 17 goals and three assists from 36 matches in all competitions this season.

The 21-year-old is reportedly a target for the Magpies and Roberto De Zerbi's Brighton and is continuing to attract interest from across Europe.

“It is already special that he plays football here. Most people don’t know, but in Mexico you can earn a little more money than at Feyenoord. It says a lot about the conscious choice he made,” Feyenoord boss Arne Slot said, according to Voetbal Primeur when asked about transfer speculation.

“It cannot be ruled out that there are clubs left and right that say ‘gosh, he shoots them in easily and is still quite young’.”
