Newcastle United transfer rumours as RB Leipzig braced for Amadou Haidara departure

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Monday, July 4.

RB Leipzig braced for Haidara and Adams departures

Newcastle were first linked with a move for Amadou Haidara during last season following the takeover of the club. Although, a move for the RB Leipzig man was not forthcoming and Bruno Guimaraes was added to the midfield instead.

The 32-time Mali international has been linked with the same move again this summer as Eddie Howe looks to add defensive midfield cover to his squad. BILD in Germany have reported that Leipzig are braced for his exit as rumours linking him to a handful of teams continue to circulate.

They are also said to be preparing for life without Tyler Adams who is reportedly being lined up as part of Leeds United’s post-Kalvin Phillips contingency plan.

Toon held prior interest in Everton-bound Tarkowski

Everton finally announced the signing of James Tarkowski on Friday afternoon after plenty of talk that he would be joining Frank Lampard’s side. He arrived at Goodison Park on a free transfer after opting against extending his expiring contract at Burnley.

At one stage, especially in January, it looked as though the Englishman’s next destination might have been Newcastle but that possibility never came to fruition. The Athletic have reported that there was a genuine interest from the Magpies among a number of other clubs.

The other clubs mentioned in the report were Aston Villa, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Roma, Dortmund, Atalanta and unnamed Spanish side. Barcelona also made an enquire into his availability but didn’t pursue it any further.

Hislop rubbishes vague Neymar chat

Newcastle were, unsurprisingly, linked with an audacious approach for Neymar when it was claimed that PSG were willing to let the Brazilian leave this summer. Although, there was very little in those rumours as it isn’t quite the deal you’d expect of United under the new regime.

Speaking to ESPN, Shaka Hislop reiterated those thoughts. He said: “I don’t see that happening. I understand the link given the new ownership at Newcastle United and the speculation that came with that new ownership.

“But as I keep pointing out, I was there back in May and there is nothing and no-one at the club that the new owners are going to be spending the kind of money it would take to bring Neymar in. Everybody sees this as spending, but sensibly and growing the club slowly in that way. Neymar doesn’t tick any of the boxes that people within the club feel there would the direction.”
