Here are your Newcastle United transfer rumours on Sunday, 26 December.
Burnley chairman explains Tarkowski stance
Burnley chairman Alan Pace has insisted he would 'love' defender James Tarkowski to stay at Turf Moor despite links with Newcastle United.
The 29-year-old, who has been capped by England, is reportedly on the radar of the Magpies and his departure would deal the Clarets a bitter blow in their fight for Premier League survival.
Burnley's chairman has spoken candidly about the situation to Express Sport and claimed the club will support Tarkowski in 'any way that he would like'.
When asked whether retaining Tarkowski would be more valuable than pocketing a fee he would command, Pace told Express Sport: "That’s a tough question.
"From my perspective, James (Tarkowski) is fantastic and we’d love him to stay longer. He obviously - at least from what he has said - feels that there are other opportunities and ambitions.
"We will support him any way that he would like, whether he wants to stay or go. I don’t know about the other side."
Journalist thinks Trippier is 'top target' for Magpies boss Howe
Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has revealed he thinks Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier is a 'top target' for Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe.
Trippier has plied his trade in Spain since 2019, when joined Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee reportedly worth £20m.
He has been linked with a return to England, although Downie has claimed there is still work to be done on a potential move.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: "I certainly think he's a top target, from what I'm hearing, for Eddie Howe.
"Whether they can get the deal done or not yet, there's still a little bit of work to do."
Bondswell loan exit link quashed
Newcastle United prospect Matthew Bondswell is not on the radar of League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday, according to our sister site Yorkshire Live.
The defender, formerly of Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig, was claimed to be a target for the Owls by Football Insider but Yorkshire Live understand Wednesday are not monitoring the 19-year-old at this stage.
Bondswell has visited Hillsborough this season having featured for Newcastle's under-21 side against Wednesday in the Papa John's Trophy, but will seemingly not be returning there to sign a contract.
