Newcastle United team news: Nabil Bentaleb makes his debut in strong team

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce made several changes to his team for the FA Cup clash at home to Oxford United.

The Magpies boss handed Nabil Bentaleb a start and began the tie with Allan Saint-Maximin in his attack.

United also welcomed DeAndre Yedlin back from the start along with Fabian Schar.

Bruce had vowed to play his strongest team before the game but with Emil Krafth, Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle, Yoshinori Muto and Florian Lejeune out injured, there were some youngsters on the bench for Newcastle.

Indeed, Tom Allan, who made his debut against Rochdale, and striker Elias Sorensen got their chance in the senior side.

UNITED : Yedlin, Schar, Lascelles, Clark, Ritchie, Longstaff, Bentaleb, Almiron, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin

Subs : Elliot, Fernandez, Hayden, Matty Longstaff, Atsu, Allan, Sorensen
