Newcastle United Supporters' Trust have 'constructive' half-hour takeover chat with Premier League

The Newcastle United Supporters' Trust (NUST) have had a 'constructive' half-hour meeting with Premier League chief executive Richard Masters about the club's failed takeover.

The Premier League hosted their latest structured dialogue meeting with the Football Supporters' Association (FSA) and a small group of fan representatives on Wednesday.

The NUST, represented by board member Thomas Concannon, were able to put questions directly to Masters and Bill Bush, the Premier League's executive director, on behalf of members after Newcastle's takeover was added to the agenda of the meeting.

Ahead of the meeting, the NUST vowed to do 'everything it can to make the Premier League understand our concerns and frustration at the process and (current) end result' as the trust looked to 'gain a greater understanding of the takeover process and seek reform in areas that supporters could and should play an important role'.

And, in a short update on social media, the NUST confirmed the meeting went well ahead of the minutes being agreed with the Premier League.

'Today we had a meeting with Richard Masters of the Premier League,' a spokesman said on Twitter. 'The chat on the Newcastle United takeover lasted over 30 minutes and it was constructive.

'Before the meeting, we agreed to wait for the Premier League to put out an 'agreed minute'. As soon as we have that, members will be updated.'

Masters broke his silence on the takeover in a letter of reply to Newcastle Central MP Chi Onwurah last week - 15 days after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, the Reuben Brothers and Amanda Staveley withdrew their offer to buy the club.
