Newcastle United have been backed by a supercomputer to qualify for Champions League football for the first time this season. FiveThirtyEight's supercomputer uses statistical information and detailed data analysis to calculate how the Premier League table will finish in May, and it's given the Magpies a top-four finish.
Eddie Howe's side have lost just once in their 16 Premier League matches so far this season and have been tipped by pundits and fans alike to even win the Premier League title for the first time and now have a 50% chance to qualify for a top-four finish.
Only Manchester City (97%), Arsenal (93%) and Liverpool (57%) have a better chance than the Magpies according to FiveThirtyEight, while Nottingham Forest (64%), Everton (49%) and Wolves (44%) have the highest chances of being relegated.

Previous simulations ran by their supercomputer have always had Newcastle below a 42% chance for Champions League qualification - a feat they haven't achieved since 2003.
They now also have a slim 3% chance to go all the way and win the title, the same percentage as Liverpool, and only behind Manchester City (53%) and Arsenal (37%).
