Newcastle United receive Miguel Almiron green light as Championship winger is linked

Here are your morning’s Newcastle United headlines on Saturday, 11 September 2021:

Almiron cleared to play

Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron has received official confirmation that he will be allowed to feature in the club’s fixture with Manchester United today.

Almiron and several other South American Premier League footballers had been in limbo all week after they had rejected call ups to their national team due to quarantine rules.

The Paraguayan FA had been looking to impose a five-day ban on Almiron but after strong opposition from the Premier League and English FA, this will no longer be the case.

The agreement also means that Brazilian midfielder Fred will be available for selection for Man United today.

Diakhaby could leave Valencia

Reported Newcastle United target Mouctar Diakhaby will be allowed to leave Valencia in the upcoming January transfer window.

That is according to Deporte Valenciano, who claim that both Steve Bruce’s side and Leicester City were linked with a summer move for the Frenchman.

Diakhaby was a regular at Valencia last season, making 26 appearances in La Liga, however he has been restricted to just ten minutes of league action so far this campaign.

Newcastle made just one new signing in the summer with former loanee Joe Willock making the permanent move to the North East from Arsenal.

Newcastle eye move for Wallace

Newcastle United are reportedly among a host of clubs eyeing a January move for Millwall star Jed Wallace, according to the Football League World.

The report states that along with the Magpies, West Ham United, Celtic and Rangers could all make a move for Wallace in the winter window with his contract set to expire next summer.

The 27-year-old would help add some much-needed creativity to Steve Bruce’s midfield as he looks to ease the burden on the shoulders of Allan Saint-Maximin.

Wallace has been in excellent form for Millwall in both of the last two seasons and has kicked the new campaign off in similar fashion as he has already netted three goals for Gary Rowett’s side.
