Newcastle United are now certain to be in the Premier League for the 2022/23 season after Leeds United slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Elland Road.
The Magpies can declare themselves safe with two matches to go in the top-flight after what has been arguably their greatest escape from relegation in the Premier League. Having been involved in a relegation scrap for the majority of the last 10 seasons, and twice dropping into the Championship since 2009, things weren't looking good in November as they sat bottom of the table with no wins after 14 matches.
But a major turnaround in results in 2022 has helped keep them afloat in the Premier League under Eddie Howe. Since Howe took over he has picked up 11 wins and five draws and 38 points as gaffer.

With none of the bottom three now able to catch Newcastle, attention switches to whether the Magpies can have a strong finish or not. Games against Arsenal on Monday evening at a sold out St James' Park and a last day trip to Burnley mean a total of 49 points and a place in the top 10 is still possible.
The Premier League fixture list for season 2022/23 will be released on Thursday 16 June 2022. The new season starts on weekend of August 6 2022.
